I didn’t see the ocean till I was seventeen. In fact, I didn’t see much of anything but corn fields and long, flat country roads. But Mama Commerce said that someday I’d see a lot of beautiful things. And she was right. I’ve since traveled quite a bit and seen my fair share of breathtaking scenery. These paintings however, are based on my imagination. On what I thought the world looked like outside of my somewhat colorless backdrop as a child. I always loved going to these places in my dreams and thought it might be nice to take other people there with me through my artwork. Sometimes it's just a V-scape, which is my vision of a Land or Sea Scape and sometimes it's a V-scape with my Girl Out Walking character drifting through it. Watercolor seemed the ideal medium because of its softer, dreamier quality.
